Zero Carbon Oxfordshire Partnership Expands to Tackle County-wide Carbon Emissions

The Zero Carbon Oxford Partnership (ZCOP) is expanding to become the Zero Carbon Oxfordshire Partnership, extending its efforts to address carbon emissions across the county. Since its launch in 2021, ZCOP has successfully united businesses and organisations in Oxford, working towards a net-zero target by 2040 and securing over £1.2 million in funding for sustainable projects.

With its expanded scope, the partnership now aims for a net zero Oxfordshire by 2050, bringing together over 20 organisations, including local councils, businesses, and academic institutions. The partnership will be led by an interim chair, Professor Nick Eyre, as it seeks long-term leadership to drive its mission forward.

Key initiatives will include:

  • Sprint and Working Groups to co-design climate action projects
  • Accessing grant funding for local net-zero initiatives
  • Peer-to-peer learning and quarterly networking events to share best practices
  • Progress reporting to track targets and outcomes

The Zero Carbon Oxfordshire Partnership Steering Group held its first meeting on 12th March at Abingdon & Witney College, marking the official launch of the expanded initiative.
